How To Become A Ski or Snowboard Instructor at Brimacombe

As an Instructor in our Snow School department, you help create the energy and excitement around skiing and snowboarding, and are key to developing our guests’ lifelong passion for winter sports. You play a pivotal role in creating unforgettable customer experiences, as well as defining the culture of our team.

Ways to Qualify:

OPTION 1: Brimacombe Ski Instructor In-House Training

If you are interested in becoming a ski instructor at Brimacombe but are not certified by an external organization, don’t worry; you can still apply for a ski instructor position at Brimacombe! If you are successful in obtaining a job offer, your offer will be contingent upon successfully passing Brimacombe’s complimentary in-house training. Please note, we do not have this option currently available for snowboard instructors.

OPTION 2: Level 1 Instructor Certification through an External Organization

If you choose to further your experience through additional courses, you can complete and successfully pass a certification course with an external organization such as the Canadian Ski Instructor Alliance (CSIA), the Professional Ski Instructors of Canada (PSIC) or the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI) beginning with your Level 1 Certification. Certification courses are held at Brimacombe several times each season; Brimacombe as the host site with the courses running through respective organizations. For the 2023/24 season, Level 1 courses are typically posted and available for registration towards the end of September or early October. Brimacombe is hosting both CSIA and CASI Level 1 Ski and Snowboard Instructor courses during the Christmas break. These courses have a registration deadline and do fill up quickly – register early to save your spot!

Typical pre-requisites for CSIA/CASI Level 1 courses:

  • 14/15 years of age on the first day of the course (Age limit depends on the discipline chosen)
  • Able to demonstrate comfortable and safe riding skills on intermediate terrain
  • Competent parallel skier on intermediate terrain
  • Previous teaching an asset, but not required
