BRIMACOMBE WELCOMES NEWEST TRAIL – WEST RIDGE

Back to All Posts

ORONO, Ont. – The landscape continues to change here on the slopes of Brimacombe and we are excited to be opening a new run on the west side of our property for the 2018/19 season! The new run has been named West Ridge – to pay tribute to two runs from the early days of operation: Ridge Run and West Hill.

Spread over approximately two acres, the tree-lined run resides under the West Chair, and the former location of T Bar seven. West Ridge now joins Brimacombe’s existing 22 runs as the eighth Black Diamond Run on the property.

When T Bars three and four were approaching the end of their usable service life back in 2015, Brimacombe’s General Manager, Mark Rutherford, hatched the idea of using the space to create a new run – Timberline – something that had not been done at Brimacombe for almost 25 years.

“As it was now time to decommission T Bar 7, we saw it as another exciting opportunity to update and grow our terrain once again,” said Rutherford. “We will always be sad to say goodbye to any part of our property’s history, but the new name will be an ongoing reminder of our roots.”

Indicated by the number 16 on the new trail map, between Club House Run and Rutherford’s Cut, West Ridge trail brings Brimacombe’s total run count to 23, plus two terrain parks and seven lifts, spread over more than 70 skiable acres.
