Brimacombe Soft-Opening This Weekend (Members Only)

Brimacombe is set for a soft opening this weekend for Brimacombe Members only!

Brimacombe is set to open this weekend on Saturday, December 19, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for Brimacombe Members only (weather and snow conditions permitting, of course!) as a soft opening for our operations for the 2020/21 season.

For this weekend only, lift ticket reservations for Members will be maximum 4-hour timeslots from your booked arrival time. For example if you book 9:20 a.m. as your arrival time, your lift ticket will end at 1:20 p.m.We will also be booking arrivals after 2:30 p.m., however these lift tickets will all end at close (4:30 p.m.) This is to ensure a fair opportunity to all of our Members to hit the slopes – as we know you are all eager to be back at Brimacombe. During the regular season, our plan is to have you will book your arrival time and you will be able to stay until close. Please note, Parking Lot 4 via Gate 4 will be the only designated entrance to Brimacombe this weekend.

Please note, we will not be selling any lift tickets to guests this weekend, you must be a 2020-21 Brimacombe Member to reserve (please note, Night Season Passes and Magic Passes are not accepted for this weekend). In order to be on Brimacombe property, you must have a reservation. To allow for proper physical distancing, only those with a lift ticket and/or reservations will able to be on the property. Spectators will not be admitted.

A reservation system link and detailed instructions will be sent out via email on Friday, December 18 at noon for Members to book their timeslots for this weekend.  

It's safe to say that the 2020-21 season will look a little different than any that has come before it. Our slopes will still be covered in snow, our lifts will still turn and we will still welcome thousands of bright, smiling faces, but how we will do it will change slightly to protect everyone's health and safety.

We’ve changed some of our operations to prioritize physical distance, increased sanitization, and reducing the number of touch points. If you haven't already, please familiarize yourself with our Opening Plan, to know what to expect this winter at Brimacombe.

We realize this will be a unique season for everyone and we appreciate your support during this time.

We are truly in this together. Just as we train our employees to be patient and understanding of our guests, we ask for you to show our employees the same courtesy. This season will be a stressful time for everyone as we all adjust to our new normal, and while this season may look a little different than what we are used to, we are optimistic that this will still be a great season.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What runs/lifts will be open this weekend?
A:  At this time, Boulevard Chair, Main Street Chair and Magic Carpet will be open servicing Standard run and Bambi. More terrain may be open – stay tuned for further announcements.
 
Q: I haven’t picked up my pass, what do I do? Can I still book?
A:  This weekend only, please follow the booking instructions that you receive on Friday. On the day of your visit, please check-in at the Guest Services Kiosk and then proceed to the exterior window of the Main Office at the East Chalet to get your Member package. Please note, you will not be allowed up a lift until you have your pass card with your lift ticket.

Q: When can I book for the rest of December?
A: We will let you know by Saturday, December 20 when you can begin to book your next block of days.
 
Q: Is it okay if I set up a BBQ in the parking lot? 
A: Your car is your base lodge but tailgate parties in our parking lots will not be permitted – this includes open flame, tables, chairs, or anything that takes up an additional parking spot.
Consuming alcohol, recreational drug usage and large gatherings will not be tolerated. Brimacombe’s Health Guidelines apply to all Brimacombe property, including parking lots.
 
Q: Will the chalet be open?
A: Chalet capacities will be significantly reduced and currently, chalets are subject to restrictions based on our colour zone. The chalet will be limited to washrooms, warming zones and take-out food purchases. Where possible, one-way entry and exit points will be designated to control traffic and reduce crowding. Lockers and cubbies will not be available for use at this time and no bags will be allowed to stay in the chalets. No table seating will be available and the lower level will have limited seating for warming purposes only.
 
Q: Will masks be mandatory? 
Absolutely! Face masks are required to be worn, both indoors and outdoors, at all times while at Brimacombe except when eating or drinking outdoors, physically distanced from those outside your bubble. Masks are required to meet the guidelines by the Durham Region Health Department. A mask must cover the nose, mouth and chin, must be in contact with the surrounding face without gaping and must be able to filter respiratory droplets. In the case of a cloth non-medical mask or face covering, this means it should be made of 2+ layers of tightly woven fabric (such as cotton or linen). If your ski mask, face shield, neck warmer, tube or balaclava meets that criteria, you can wear it as a mask, but if there are breathing or ventilation holes, or it is a single layer of material, it will not be acceptable as a mask. We also recommend bringing a back-up or two so you are able to change it out when it gets damp.

Q: Who will be enforcing masks and monitoring physical distancing?
A:  All of our staff will be enforcing Brimacombe’s COVID-19 policies. We will also have dedicated staff who will be helping direct line ups and enforcing Brimacombe’s mask and physical distancing policies. It is also the responsibility of our guests and members to do their part – please don’t be the reason we lose our season!
